About me
Artie Blanco is the National Campaign Director for the AFL-CIO, where she oversees national political and field programs that mobilize workers, strengthen grassroots organizing, and expand labor's voice across the country. For more than two decades, she has built coalitions, organized communities, and worked to increase civic participation and opportunity for working families.
A proud Texas native, Blanco began her career in public service as a college freshman working for Congressman Gene Green in Houston. She later held positions with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), the Texas Legislature, and national political organizations, gaining firsthand experience in public policy, advocacy, and community organizing.
After moving to Nevada in 2009, Blanco led efforts to expand Latino civic engagement, helping achieve record levels of voter registration and turnout through year-round organizing and coalition building. She joined the AFL-CIO in 2012 as Nevada State Director, partnering with unions and community organizations to advance the interests of working people. She later served as Regional Campaigns Coordinator before being named National Campaign Director in 2023.
Blanco also serves as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. Throughout her career, she has remained focused on a simple mission: building lasting power for working families, strengthening Latino communities, and creating opportunities that make the economy work for everyone.
