About me
Elida J. Martinez hails from the vibrant cultural landscape of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, yet her heart finds its home in Oak Cliff, a mighty neighborhood in the center of Dallas, Texas, where she spent her formative years. A proud first-generation Latina, Elida’s work centers on creating intentional spaces where young adults feel supported in their self-discovery journeys while pursuing higher education, honoring the complexity of their identities and lived experiences.
She has dedicated her career to student engagement, leadership development, campus life, and civic empowerment, with a strong emphasis on building inclusive environments that foster belonging, growth, and purpose. Beyond campus-based work, Elida has held national leadership roles with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), where she contributed to initiatives and campaigns focused on young adult civic engagement, equity, and social justice.
A committed lifelong learner, Elida holds a BBA in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from UNT Dallas and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of North Texas, with the goal of creating meaningful, policy-informed change that improves access, equity, and outcomes for historically marginalized students.
