About me
Representative Cassandra Garcia Hernandez represents Texas House District 115, serving communities across northwest Dallas County, including Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Irving, and Lewisville. An attorney and public servant, she recently completed her first legislative session in Austin, where she served as Vice Chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on State and Federal Relations and as a member of the House Committees on Appropriations and Intergovernmental Affairs. Her leadership and effectiveness during her first term earned her recognition as the Mexican American Legislative Caucus Freshman of the Year.
Representative Garcia Hernandez was born in the Texas Panhandle and raised by her grandparents and a single mother after losing her father to gun violence. Determined to create greater opportunities for her daughter, her mother moved the family to North Texas, where dedicated public school teachers helped shape her future. After graduating early from Garland's Naaman Forest High School, Garcia Hernandez earned a scholarship to attend the University of Houston, where she received her business degree, before going on to earn her law degree from South Texas College of Law.
Today, Representative Garcia Hernandez practices law alongside her father as a partner in their family law firm, representing clients in personal injury and immigration matters. Her work in the courtroom has given her firsthand insight into the challenges facing working families, small businesses, and immigrant communities across Texas, experience she brings with her to the Texas Legislature. Her professional accomplishments have earned her recognition as one of D Magazine's Best Lawyers, a Super Lawyers Rising Star, a National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and recipient of the Pete Torres Jr. Community Service Award from the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section.
Whether serving her constituents in Austin or advocating for clients in her legal practice, Representative Garcia Hernandez has built a reputation for hard work, practical leadership, and steady public service. She believes government should help create opportunity, strengthen communities, and give every Texan a fair chance to succeed.
