Nidia Cavazos is a national award-winning journalist covering politics and immigration. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and Mandarin, she has established a prominent career as a national correspondent for both CBS News and Univision.
As a Los Angeles-based National Correspondent for CBS News, Nidia led the network's West Coast political and immigration coverage, with a specialized focus on the Latino vote. She previously served as a CBS News Campaign Reporter in Washington, D.C., spending nearly a year embedded with Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign trail and traveling across battleground states.
Before joining CBS News, Nidia was a Houston-based National Correspondent for Univision, covering the U.S.–Mexico border under both the Trump and Biden administrations. There, she also helped launch the network's first streaming news programs while reporting on issues critical to the Latino community. Her impactful coverage of immigration issues has earned her the industry’s highest honors, including a National Emmy Award, a National Edward R. Murrow Award, and six Regional Emmys.
